"Brighton Shore"

The first one of Lilly’s Lightboxes which has been made solely from the weathered woods of a large sideboard. Having used the existing drawers of this lovely but discarded  sideboard for other pieces, I wanted to work with its still beautiful oak and mahogany veneer to create a lightbox that is much larger in scale and slimmer in depth. At 74cm x 52cm x 12cm, it’s a fantastic format and really gives room for the striking green-grey contrasts of the image to work its dramatic magic.  It captures a scene of a small person, sitting on a bench  braving the waves at the Brighton shore during a stormy autumn afternoon.
